Maria and Victor's Big Fat Greek Wedding

Seriously- it really was. This most beloved bride and groom managed to amass 600 people to celebrate their nuptials with them. It was an international affair- people flew in from all over the world, and toasts were given in three languages! One of the highlights of the day (in addition to the stunning bride Maria in her spectactular Reem Acra gown, holding the most beautiful orchid bouquet anyone has ever seen), would have to be our groom Victor's face. We were treated to a face full of such joy, delight, and love. Scott and I always talk about how being with people on their wedding day is rewarding in a way that the stuff we did in Hollywood was not. As a filmmaker, you get to work with real emotions that are better than anything you can get from an actor. During the editing process, watching Maria and Victor look into each others eyes literally gave me chills. It was a total honor to be able to help them remember this day forever.

Oh my goodness! The dancing at the reception was amazing. I felt like I was at a Broadway show. The party went into the very wee hours the next day- enough to get in the Greek dancing, the salsa dancing, and of course, the Soulja Boy.

Heather and Rob's Tanglewood Park Wedding

What a beautiful outdoor wedding! Heather and Rob got married underneath a champion Oak Tree at Tanglewood Park, and followed with a reception in the Clubhouse Ballroom. Their highlights video is at the bottom of the post.

If I remember correctly, when we woke up that morning- it looked like it might be a gray and rainy day. One look at this sky and you can tell we really lucked out with the weather.

Look at all the ladies!

Nothing makes a statement like a carriage. They make a fabulous addition to an outdoor ceremony!

What I want to know is- what did Rob and Heather do with all their real friends while these gorgeous people stood in as their bridal party? Seriously!

All kidding aside, they were such a fun bridal party to shoot. Thanks for your enthusiasm, ya'll.

Yummy!

Tough work some of us have, huh? Today I had the pleasure of shooting the most pleasant and enthusiastic Sarah for one of her very first modeling portfolio shoots! I think she did a fantastic job. See for yourself!

Thanks, Sarah!

Riche and Cedric's Reception

We had a great time at Riche and Cedric's reception. The music for the reception highlights was selected by Riche, and is every bit as cool as this D.C. power couple. Thanks again for having us, ya'll!

Pre-Ceremony Moments With Cedric and Riche

Riche chose the song for this music video featuring her bride prep, and the moments before their ceremony . I think it complements the footage beautifully, and I'm grateful to Riche for her input!

Riche and Cedric's Baltimore Wedding

I've just returned from the post office, where I had the satisfying experience of sending off a box of completed wedding videos. After spending about 60 hours with wedding day footage, watching people laugh and cry and smooch and boogie, I always end up feeling like an old buddy of the family. That being said, it is always a day of celebration to finally be finished with a project of such magnitude. Today we'll all celebrate together with a few photographs from Riche and Cedric's wedding, and some highlights from their wedding video.

Here is their trailer- I'll be uploading more of their highlights as I get them onto Youtube.

Crankin' It For Vinny

Today I had the opportunity to take a few shots at the Greensboro Harley Davidson Motorsports Park for a very special cause. Vinny is 4 years old and battling a rare form of childhood cancer. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over gathered to raise money to help him in his fight. A Harley bike ride began in Kernersville, and ended at the park where riders were treated to clog dancers, the rocking sounds of The Special Occasion Band, face painting, a classic car show, and a bike show. Thanks for the party, Vinny!

Winston Salem Arts District Engagement Shoot

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting fashionista Abby and super-fly guy Emory for their engagement shoot. The urban location of downtown Winston Salem reflects their laid-back personalities.

After Emory announced upon arrival that photo shoots weren't really his thing, I was so nervous about what kind of shots we were going to get! I think he was pulling my leg, though, because he and Abby were up for anything!

We have Emory to thank for the next shot. We were shooting in this alley, and Emory commented on how I would next have them go into the drippy water at the end of the alley. I assured him I would not be sending them into the drippy water, thinking he was joshing me about all the other silly stuff I had asked them to do in the shoot. He, however, was making a serious artistic suggestion, and the delightful Abby was game. Into the drippy water they went! Thanks Emory!

Thanks to Abby's parents Jean and David for pizza and beer at the Mellow Mushroom after the shoot. It was exciting to discuss the wedding details- I can't wait till the big day! Good luck with the garden and the landscaping, and fulfilling your hanging-votive daily quota.

Engagement Shoot at Greensboro Bicentennial Garden

Dawn Carswell and Brian Whittington will soon be celebrating their nuptials this coming fall. We had a fun engagement session surrounded by the cheap showiness of nature at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden in Greensboro. Great job, ya'll!

Actor Headshots in the Studio

Our web designer Bob Shirley (http://bogisoft.com) brought his son Mitch along for a site meeting. Thanks for helping us with our lighting tests, Mitch!

Welcome to Poetic Reality Productions

Hello, and thanks for stopping by. It has been established over the past few years that busy photography bees such as ourselves can't keep our website updated with our most current work. We've put together this blog to showcase images from our current shoots, and keep folks apprised of what we're up to. Here are a few images of the delightful Cameron Marion, Carolina Music Awards Country Artist of the Year. She's got more images from the shoot on her myspace page. Be sure to check her out! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=66270710
