New Orleans Headshots for Actors and Models

New Orleans has earned the nickname "Hollywood South," thanks to the endless stream of productions that have set up shop in southern Louisiana for their film and television projects. An actor trying to find work has, along with her resume, a key tool to earning auditions and acting work- the headshot. A great headshot is simple, with nothing distracting from the actor's, well, head. Not a glamour shot or a beauty shot, the headshot needs to looks exactly like the person that is going to walk through the door of the casting office if she is selected for an audition. Commonly, actors use reproductions of several headshots featuring assorted "moods," which their agents then submit for the varied roles the actor might play. Our model for the following exercise is the delightful Kristin, super-impressive Art Department and Casting professional from assorted local films.

The quirky girl next door:

The "alternative" girl with an edge:

The sweet girl with whom everyone wants to be friends:

The next two shots are more for fun than anything. These typically would not be found in an actor's arsenal of photographs, although a commercial print model might want something like this in her portfolio.

Back to headshots. The mean, villainous girl always picking on the lead ingenue:

The lead ingenue always being picked on by the villainous girl:

This one is also more for fun than anything. Definitely not a headshot.
Another pic just for fun:

The moody college student who is experiencing tragedy in her life:

The carefree college student:

Not a real headshot either, but a pretty fierce full-body shot if one were developing a print-model portfolio:

Allrightey, future models and actors of New Orleans. Think you are fantastic? Have an agent? Not getting many calls for auditions?
